 About PREP...
This program helped cut my study time - let me focus on the important stuff.

Tomas H., Decatur, GA_

The PREP Glossary contains over 250 terms and acronyms

•  RPSGT Exam - Knowledge of these terms will help you prepare to pass the polysomnography registry exam.
•  Recognized References - Terms in this glossary are compiled from recognized references in the field of polysomnography.
•  Consistent Communication - Use of standard terms promotes accurate and consistent communication within the sleep lab between all staff members.
•  The Glossary is a 8.5"x5.5" printed booklet you can carry with you.
Make notes, highlight words and phrases, then study whenever you like!
Studying vocabulary - The best way to study vocabulary terms and definitions is A LITTLE AT A TIME - what experts call the "Trickle in Approach". Studies have shown that the most efficient way to retain vocabulary is to study often for brief amounts of time. You may be familiar with many of these terms and acronyms already, but it is important to learn the correct definitions. Start learning these terms early. DO NOT leave vocabulary till last - cramming will not help you retain this information!

Check off the terms as you learn them.

Highlight significant words or acronyms.

Dedicate yourself to studying for 15 minutes twice a day.
Follow this procedure with the PREP Glossary and you can learn these 250+ terms within four weeks.

The TERM of the week is:

Dyssomnia  Disorders of sleep or wakefulness.  They are not parasomnias.  Dyssomnias separated into three types:  Intrinsic Sleep Disorders, Extrinsic Sleep Disorders, and Circadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders.

More information on this topic can be found in this reference:

Sleep Medicine, pages 129-134

Check back next week for another term!
